Rachel bound for Brisbane
For the
second year in a row, Worcester Tri Club’s Rachel Ward will be wearing Great
Britain’s colours in the World Triathlon Championships after qualifying for
the 50-55 age-group event Down Under. In 2008, she finished eighth in the
49-54 category on her GB debut in Vancouver.
Rachel heads for the Gold
Coast in September, having made the team after her efforts in one of the
earlier qualifying events at Bedford – sparing herself what would have been
an arduous journey to the final selection race at Strathclyde. As it was,
Rachel had barely a week to book her flight and arrange accommodation before
entries closed. Best of luck to her.
Just a quick reminder that the Club BBQ is this Saturday at Top Barn /

The SGM has been postponed in order to allow further discussion around changes to the constitution. BTF Starmark and BC GoRide require the club to have an open, non-discriminatory and up-to-date constitution. The changes were being proposed for this reason, there are no hidden agendas. However some members feel that the changes go too far.
New College pool broken - open water instead?
Bad news I'm afraid. Found out today that the pumps have gone at New College pool, so no swim sessions for the immediate future. On the plus side, open water swimming is back on at Top Barn.
Enter the University campus from the Severn Gate off Hylton/Henwick Road. Continue just past the large astroturf pitch on the right hand side. Immediately after going over the raised pedestrian crossing, turn right into the car park at the rear of the MARRC building. This will be coned off and reserved for Tri Club members. The entrance to the building is round the other side. A campus map is available here.
