The 2012 West Midlands Children’s Aquathlon and Triathlon Series awards took place on Sunday evening at the West Midlands Water-ski Centre near Tamworth – and there was success for Worcester Triathlon Club Juniors with Nixie Turner winning both TS3 Girls’ (13/14yrs) series and Helen Jubb coming second in the triathlon series.

In the aquathlon (swim / run) series Turner swept the board with wins in the Black Country, Warwick, Warwickshire and Wrekin aquathlons to give her a maximum 20,000 points with the best two results counting. Jubb finished fourth in the series on 18,521 points with fellow club members Jordan Prust and Rachel Powell finishing 11th and 12th.

In the triathlon series the best three scores from five events counted and Turner again swept the board with wins at the Worcester Duathlon, the Black Country Triathlon, and the Paul Weston Memorial Triathlon at Birmingham University giving her a maximum 30,000 points. Jubb won the final, open-water event at Rugby to give her second place overall on 29,362 points. Prust and Powell also competed in the triathlon series finishing 9th and 10th respectively.

Duncan Jenkins, Chairman of Worcester Triathlon Club said: ‘It’s a great achievement for Nixie to win both the West Midlands TS3 series this year and congratulations must also go to Helen, Jordan and Rachel for their results. Overall in the children’s series, across all age groups, Worcester Tri Club came sixth out of all the West Midlands clubs, which is a fantastic result considering that we are one of the smaller clubs.’
