I raced the long course weekend in Tenby, the weekend just gone.
It is an ironman distance over 3 days.
The swim course is the same as ironman Wales and Friday was a perfect day. The sea was as calm as a mill pond, the water warm and crystal clear.
Saturday saw us tackle the hilly 112 mile bike course, a 72 mile lap followed by a 40 mile lap, which again I believe is the same route used by ironman Wales.
Finally on Sunday we ran a marathon. The hilliest I have ever run and with temperatures approaching 30 degrees I knew it was going to be a slow one. I set off at 10 minute mile pace and decided to walk up the hills. I was feeling good at halfway, but decided to carry on with my plan until 20 miles, then upped the pace. I managed a negative split (just) and still felt strong at the end.
All in all it was a great weekend and good preparation for Ironman Wales on the 8th September.
My results and also Kevin May and Gary Jarvis did it to.
