A tough day at Halesowen on Sunday reminded us that the Midlands can be very hilly! The 400m swim in Halesowen’s 33m pool (ok, 399m) was straightforward and was followed by a re-routed bike course around the blustery Clent Hills. Some dodgy road surfaces after the winter weather turned some of the lanes into a game of pothole roulette, but the course was never the less enjoyable! The run leg was uninspiring, a straightforward out and back. However, it gave the chance for some quick times despite being undulating.  Adam Jackson came in 2nd, unaware of being 18 seconds off the lead, whilst Darren Huxley came in 33rd, and Catherine Kelly set a new 5k PB to finish 102nd. It was a privilege to have Non Stanford handing out prizes at the finish, courtesy of Brotherton Cycles. The whole event was very well organised and had great spirit, attracting competition at all levels and abilities. A good season starter.
